Health-Care Liability

« Back to Practice Areas

Our attorneys have considerable experience representing hospitals and their personnel in a variety of areas, including cases involving complex medical-malpractice claims, premises liability, and Department of Health issues. Our clients have included physicians, chiropractors, nurses, therapists, technical support staff, and other medical and psychological personnel, and we are intimately familiar with the ethical and practical issues that are associated with communications and interaction between and among hospital administration and the medical staff, including maintaining the confidentiality of healthcare information in light of HIPAA and HITECH. We are also equipped to deal with sensitive issues that may arise with respect to a medical staff's adherence to hospital policy, including peer review, professional review, and quality-management/control processes.

As a firm, and as with all of our practice areas, we take considerable pride in our knowledge of developing case law, statutes, and regulations that we can use to our client's advantage to obtain early resolution of legal disputes or, ideally, to avoid formal litigation altogether. When necessary, we have the experience and qualifications to represent our client's interests through trial and appeal. Our understanding of both the law and the underlying medical concepts also enable us to locate and work with experts in the necessary fields who are most qualified to ensure that our clients' cases are properly handled throughout the discovery and trial process and that they receive the best possible representation.
